Slow Food Week 1-8 June 2014
The Cream of the Cotswolds
Slow Food is a non-profit, member supported association created to counter the rise of fast food and fast life. Working to reconnect people with where their food comes from and how it is produced. Slow Food encourages people to choose nutritious food, from sustainable, local sources which tastes great.
In conjunction with Slow Food Week we are delighted to support our local Cotwolds cheese hero, Crudges. They make artisan cheeses using raw milk from 3 local farms especially chosen for the quality of their cow, sheep and goats milk.
A silver medal winner in the 2010 British Cheese Awards ‘Kingham Green'. A Cotswold ‘Tomme' made with Jersey cows milk. A Gruyere- textured cheese with a strong flavour.
‘Revolution' is a rind-washed semi-soft sticky cheese made from Jersey cows milk, Oxfordshire's answer to Stinking Bishop!
‘Sarsden' is a sheeps cheeses, gruyere-like in texture, but with the delicate and slightly fruity/sweet flavour of sheeps milk.
And lastly ‘Aveton' is a semi-hard fresh tasting goats cheese.
At Old Swan & Minster Mill we are passionate about using local suppliers and proud to be serving Crudges specialities on our dessert menu. For every cheese board purchased during Slow Food Week £1 will be donated to SFUK to show our support and sympathy for local sourcing, sustainability and quality products.
